NDIS and the role of NCAT

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) gives people with permanent and significant disability choice and control over the support they receive. NCAT hears applications which may be prompted by the NDIS.

NCAT can appoint a guardian and/or financial manager for an NDIS participant with a decision making disability. Before making an order, NCAT considers alternatives such as the appointment of a nominee by the NDIA.

NCAT deals with everyday disputes that may affect NDIS participants. These include tenancy and other residential issues, and the supply of goods and services by NDIS registered providers.

To effectively manage these applications, NCAT identifies and records applications affecting NDIS participants.
