Working with children checks

NCAT can review Working with Children Check (WWCC) decisions made by the Children's Guardian.

Working with Children Check cases are managed through NCAT's Administrative and Equal Opportunity Division.

What is a Working with Children Check?

A Working With Children Check (WWCC) is a requirement for anyone who works or volunteers in child-related work in NSW.

What can NCAT review?

NCAT can review Working with Children Check decisions made by the Office of the Children's Guardian.

Applications for a review must be lodged with NCAT within 28 days of receiving notification from the Children's Guardian.

Apply for a review of the Children's Guardian decision

If the Children's Guardian has refused or cancelled your WWC clearance or imposed an bar, you may be able to apply to NCAT for a review of the decision.

How to apply

Download and complete an application form and lodge your application at any NCAT Registry Office.

Fees

Fees are payable for administrative review applications. View the fees and charges schedule or apply for a fee waiver.

Time limits

You must apply to NCAT within 28 days of receiving the decision from the Children's Guardian.

If you apply outside of the time limit, you can request a time extension as part of your application. NCAT will not always agree to a request for a time extension.
